Our Story
Gilbert’s View Guesthouse was born from resilience, family history, and a deep love for Jamaica’s natural beauty.
After Hurricane Gilbert swept through Jamaica in 1988, the storm severely damaged my grandfather’s home and blew away the roof of the property. Instead of walking away from the land, he chose to rebuild with purpose and vision. What began as recovery slowly became the foundation for what is now Gilbert’s View Guesthouse — a space created to welcome others and share the beauty, warmth, and spirit of Port Antonio with visitors from around the world.
Today, Gilbert’s View remains locally owned and rooted in family. Located on Stony Hill Road in Port Antonio, Jamaica, the guesthouse offers a peaceful place for guests to rest, reconnect, and experience the slower rhythm of Portland. Whether you are visiting family, exploring the island, or simply looking for sunshine and relaxation, we are proud to share a space built from perseverance, hospitality, and love for our community.
